"Climate Challenge Pushes Law Offices to Go Green" by John S. Kirk - Since this article was written, the ABA Climate Challenge Program has grown to over 280 participants. Additionally, costs for many "green" products, most notably recycled paper, have become more competitive with traditional, non-sustainable products. There is also another sustainability program available to law offices. The Law Firm Sustainability Network (LFSN) was established last year, and currently has approximately 50 member organizations. What do you like most about your role at All-State Legal?

I have the opportunity to work with a diverse group of clients on a daily basis! We are able to solve new problems every day. The best aspect of my role is developing the long-term relationships with my clients.

How did you get started in the law firm environment and Woodcock Washburn?

I found my way into the legal environment when I joined Woodcock Washburn in 1979. I had been feeling underutilized in my corporate position so I starting looking into other opportunities. A friend was aware of an opening at Woodcock so she referred me to the then Office Manager. I had never worked in legal nor had I even heard of Intellectual Property Law. Although there was much to learn, I thrived on the challenge and quickly grew to love the field of IP. Through the years I held various positions within the firm and eventually became the Human Resources Manager in 1996.
